While Beacon evaluates candidates, it also builds a market map: the set of companies where the right talent for your role lives. For an Austin PE-backed SaaS CFO search, that means the PE-backed and exited software companies in and around Austin whose finance leaders fit the brief.
In the run workspace
The Market Map card in the run workspace lists each mapped company with its primary sector, HQ, and headcount, and is searchable. Beacon works firm-by-firm through these companies during the run, so the map and the shortlist reinforce each other.
As a company list
The map is saved automatically as a company list named Market Map - [run name], in the same folder as the run. Find it under Saved, then Company Lists.
From here it behaves like any company list:
- Search People: search executives across just these companies.
- Company Insights: aggregate analytics over the mapped market.
- SmartRank: rank the companies themselves against a spec.
- Firmographics per company: founded, ownership status, headcount, with notes and CSV export.
What to use it for
- Client conversations: the map is the “where we looked” slide, generated as a byproduct of the search.
- Sourcing beyond the shortlist: open a mapped company’s profile and browse its leadership team and org chart directly.
- Monitoring: the list’s NewsFeed surfaces funding, acquisition, and C-level changes across the mapped market while your search is running.
If the map reveals the market is thinner than expected, that is a finding, not a failure. Ask Beacon a follow-up to widen the geography or adjacent sectors and the map grows with the shortlist.
