# Company search

> Find companies by sector, size, ownership, investors, and location.

Company Search finds businesses rather than people: build a universe of targets by sector, scale, ownership, and geography, then drill into any company's leadership from its profile.

## Run a search

1. In the left navigation, open **Find Companies** and click **Company Search**. The filter panel opens automatically.

2. Add your criteria:

   * **Locations**: filter by company headquarters, with the same radius and expanded matching controls as People Search.
   * **Sectors**: the heart of company search. Click **Open sector browser** to explore HelloSky's sector taxonomy.
   * **Scale**: employee count, revenue, and funding ranges.
   * **Attributes**: ownership type (Public, Private, PE-Backed, PE-Primary, VC-Backed), company type (product versus services), B2B versus B2C, and investors.
   * **Keywords, Date Filters, Smart Tags, Company Name**: free-text keywords, founding date ranges, and name lookup.

## The Sector Browser

The Sector Browser has two modes:

* **AI**: describe the areas you are targeting in plain language, and matching sectors are picked for you, along with related suggestions.
* **Keyword**: browse the sector tree yourself. Each top-level sector shows example companies and a company count. Click a sector to select it with all of its subsectors, then remove any subsector chips you do not want.

Click **Update Search** to apply your sector selection.

## Work with results

* The button at the bottom of the filter panel shows a live count before you commit, for example **Show 3.9M+ companies**.
* Click any company to open its profile, with leadership, funding, and news.
* Save companies to a company list, or save the whole result set to your active folder.

<Tip>
  If your company universe feels too broad, tighten **Scale** first: an employee or revenue range usually narrows results faster than adding more sectors.
